COLLEGE BASKETBALL BETTING:
ANALYZING THE MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE

November 2007

All five teams that had a winning straight up won/lost record also were successful against the spread last season, something college basketball betting followers will be eyeing this year. Straight up (SU), against the spread (ATS), and over/under (O/U) records for the 2006/07 season are in parentheses:
EAST DIVISION
KENT STATE (21-11 SU, 17-11 ATS, 11-17 O/U)
: Not only do the Flashes return four starters and several valuable reserves but a trio of transfers will help Kent State wrest the East title away from Akron this season.

Sports Betting Angle: Kent State was 9-4 ATS on three or more days rest last season.

AKRON (26-7 SU, 16-12 ATS, 13-14-1 O/U): MAC Player of the Year Romeo Travis is gone and, although the Zips will be formidable, will be hard-pressed to match last season's success.

OHIO (19-13 SU, 16-15 ATS, 8-20 O/U): In Leon Williams (14.4 PPG, 8.8 RPG) and Jerome Tillman (14.6 PPG, 8.2 RPG) the Bobcats have the best forward duo in the conference. If they get a point guard, watch out.
